Tradition crosswise. Masecki’s “Polonaises”

From waltz and ragtime to avant-garde jazz – that’s Marcin Masecki’s “Polonaises”. In his next musical experiment, Masecki mixes marching band, 19th century elegance, and classical composing techniques. We will see and hear what it all means on the 4th of August at the Kazimierz market square.

Masecki began his adventure with music as a three-year-old. Twelve years later he already played with the best jazz musicians in the country, and as a 22-year-old he won the Moscow Jazz Piano Competition. After his studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston he was able to consciously manage his own career. He is invariably fascinated with everything that is crooked, awkward, uncomfortable. Masecki has been awarded Polityka Passport for his skilful and consistent maneuvering between genres, for blurring the boundaries between philharmonic and club music, and finally for challenging traditional form in a playful and subversive manner in “Polonaises”.

The August concert at Two Riversides will be retransmitted by TVP2. Admission free.
