Lina Wertmüller, history’s first woman to be nominated for an Oscar for directing, will have her mini-retrospective during the 8th Film and Art Festival Two Riversides.
The Italian director is one of merely four candidates, alongside Jane Campion, Sofia Coppola, and Kathryn Bigelow, for the American Academy Award. However, Wertmüller’s greatness need not be confirmed by overseas awards; her talent has been acknowledged by Federico Fellini himself: he made her his assistant for the production of “8 ½.” Two Riversides will feature three of Wertmüller’s films: “The seduction of Mimi,” “Love and anarchy,” and “All screwed up.” Wertmüller’s subversive films have been screened at the biggest international festivals, including Cannes, Berlin, and Moscow. Her work has garnered acclaim all over the world, as proves a collection of awards, as well as parodies in the American comedy show “Saturday Night Live.”
Come to the little-great Festival in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec nad Wisłą, starting August 2nd.
