What does Andrzej Chyra look for in cinema? What characterises the works of Leos Carax? What compositions does Dziady Kazimierskie play? You will find answers to these questions today at Two Riversides.
The demonic Gerard in “The Debt,” “The Collector” who does not yield, the lieutenant who managed to survive “Katyń” – during his meeting with the audience Andrzej Chyra will tell us about the most important characters he played in TV and theatre productions. The hero of this year’s “And God Created Actor” has worked with the biggest stars among actors, and with prominent directors including Feliks Falk, Andrzej Wajda, and Jerzy Stuhr.
In the I Love Cinema Café the audience will meet with Amanda Sans Pantling, the director of “Songs of Redemption,” and prof. Józef Robakowski, who will talk with video art lovers.
A new day at Two Riversides also brings new premières. Benjamin Heisenberg’s “Sleeper” and “The Robber” have met with acclaim at Berlinale and Cannes. Now the author gives us “Superegos” – a buddy film comedy about a psychoanalyst and a petty criminal. Another film which will have its Polish première is “The Dog,” a documentary about John Wojtowicz, the inspiration behind the protagonist of the famous “Dog Day Afternoon” by Sidney Lumet.
We have already had a lecture by Allan Starski, a meeting with Tadeusz Sobolewski, and now it is time for the next “Cinema Lesson.” This Two Riversides section will feature the première of Tessa Louise-Salomé’s “Mr X,” a documentary about Leos Carax. The author of “Holy Motors” and “Les Amants du Pont-Neuf” is one of the most controversial and, at the same time, mysterious French filmmakers. Leos Carax’s works are ambiguous, and the author rarely gives interviews. “Mr X” is a great opportunity to get to know this extraordinary artist better.
Two Riversides of Literature is something for literature lovers. At 5PM in Kuncewiczówka Małgorzata Szejnert will be waiting for them.
“I tak oto w Kazimierzu tym do rymu sam się klei rym” (And so in this in this Kazimierz of mine a rhyme follows another rhyme) – Two Riversides probably could not do without a concert by Dziady Kazimierskie. We let their unpretentious, lively, and incredibly witty music carry us away, no questions asked.
