Little Cannes at Two Riversides

Five films presented in the main competition of the 67th Cannes Festival, including Palme d’Or winner “Winter Sleep,” will be presented at the 8th Film and Art Festival Two Riversides. They will be presented as part of the “World Under Canvas” section.

“Wild Tales,” “The Wonders,” “Leviathan,” and “The Captive” – these films competed with Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s picture for Palme d’Or.

“The Captive” will have its premiere in Kazimierz Dolny. In his thriller, Atom Egoyan carefully analises how the kidnapping of a child influences the relationship between the protagonists, and exposes the complicated connections between the victim, its family, the perpetrator, and the investigators. “Leviathan,” which was awarded for best screenplay in Cannes, seems to be a typical story portraying the struggle against the hubris and the despotism of the authority. However, it takes place against monumental scenery, the most disturbing point of which is the titular Leviathan – the sceleton of a whale, which lies on the beach among the rocks. “The Wonders” (Grand Prix in Cannes) combine realism with fairy-tale cruelty in an intimate way. The film was inspired by the family story of the fim’s director, Alice Rohrwacher.

“World Under Canvas” is comprised of 35 films, 14 of which will have their Polish premieres in Kazimierz Dolny. See you at the Little-Great Festival between the 2nd and the 10th of August!
