The Italian press described Lech Majewski as “Dante reborn in Poland.” “Field of Dogs,” a film about a man fascinated with “Divine Comedy,” has already enraptured the audience in Europe. During the special screening at Two Riversides we will find out how the Polish audience will react. Its director will be a guest at the 8th edition of the Festival.
“Field of Dogs” is the last film from Lech Majewski’s trilogy, where he enters into a dialogue with great artists. Before Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, the director worked on “The Garden of Earthly Delights,” the famous triptych by Hieronymus Bosch, and “The Procession to Calvary,” the painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Though Lech Majewski’s pictures are very popular abroad, the author is often underrated in Poland. Two Riversides were the first festival to organise a retrospective of this distinguished artist in 2010.
