Jacek Kaczmarski, Czesław Niemen, Stanisława Celińska, and Nick Cave are only a few of the protagonists of the “Music – My Love” section. Once again at Two Riversides music and film prove that they are a perfect duo.
Nicka Cave’s fans cannot miss the film “20,000 Days on Earth.” The documentary is a portrayal of the charismatic Australian musician, who is just living the 20,000th day of his life. We will also honour Polish artists. In “Bard” we shall have a closer look at the equivocal figure of Jackek Kaczmarski, and in “Blue Notebook” we will remind you of Witold Lutosławski. To honour the 10th anniversary of Czesław Niemen’s death, we will show a new documentary, “A dream of Warsaw,” in which the director tells the story of this great artist entangled in the complicated reality of Polish People’s Republic. We will also see the capital of Poland in Stolicę zobaczymy również w filmie “New Warsaw.”
“Music – My Love” does not only include films about musicians, but also about music itself. That is why the program of Two Riversides includes “O Samba,” a film which washes away the image of Brazil as the host of the World Cup football tournament. The film’s director, Gachot Georges, will come to Kazimierz Dolny. “Triana Pure and Pure” and “Songs of Redemption” use music to tell absorbing stories about people. The director, Amanda Sans Panting, will be our guest and shall personally invite the audience to the screening.
The last film in this section is “Twenty Feet From Stardom” (this year’s Academy Award winner for Best Documentary-Feature). Instead of focusing on the stars onstage, the film’s director, Morgan Neville, tells us about those outside the spotlight – the backing vocalists.
Come to the Little-Great Festival to Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec nad Wisłą, starting the 2nd of August.
