The Oscar of music went to Włodek Pawlik. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has honoured his album “Night in Calisia.” The record is a collaboration between Włodek Pawlik, Randy Brecker (one of the leading American trumpeters), and the Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra under Adam Klocek.
One of Włodek Pawlik’s visits in Kazimierz Dolny took place in 2012. He then performed his “Film-Music-Improvisations” concert which accompanied the screening of Dorota Kędzierzawska and Artur Reinhart’s “Inny świat.” He has also performed several times in Puławy – in November 2013 the audience of the Wszystkie Strony Świata festival had the opportunity to hear the world premiere of Pawlik’s “2nd Piano Concerto.” This is how Włodek Pawlik used to announce that event: “For years the Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra has been a constant partner when it comes to my orchestral projects.”
The album “Night in Calisia” has been nominated for “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album.” It is one of five jazz Grammy categories. Congratulations!
